The two Dale motels have been built in the past two years and are located at the junction of Interstate 64 and Hwy 231, just a short drive from Thermwood. When you drive around the local communities, you are traveling over some of Abraham Lincoln's old stomping grounds. Southern Indiana was Mr. Lincoln's boyhood home and the Lincoln Boyhood Memorial Park is located a few miles south at Lincoln City. A living historical farm re-enacts the lifestyle that was commonplace during his life in Indiana.

Huntingburg is a community with Hollywood connections, since it served as the set for the movies "A League of their Own" and "Hard Rain". Downtown Huntingburg is very picturesque and a haven for antique dealers. The Huntingburg League Baseball Stadium serves as a museum to the movie and is also home to the "Bombers", a member of the Frontier League.

Jasper is located north of Huntingburg and is the industrial center of this area. As the largest community, it also features more places to eat and relax. One of the best, known restaurants in Jasper is the Schnitzelbank a German-American food restaurant that is best known for its 2 inch thick smoked pork chops and Wurst Sampler Platter.

Santa Claus is home to Holiday World, a theme park that transforms a sleepy hollow community to one of shrieks of enjoyment on some of the world's best wooden roller coasters. Opening around Memorial Day and closing shortly after Labor Day, this park would be a good stop if you choose to bring family. If you come around Christmas get your letters postmarked from Santa's real hometown.
